As a stylist and woman, I understand the frustrations that women have surrounding their bodies and clothing. Assessing your body shape rather than trying to wear looks that don’t flatter, will be the first step to successful shopping and outfit creation. Once you know your shape you can research which brands work for you along with which styles. An experienced Stylist of course can do all of this for you and can magically achieve longer leaner looks through the power of successful styling. Instant results without any dieting or going to the gym!

2.     GET THE RIGHT BRA FIT

Most women are still in the wrong bra and as a stylist when I show them their right size, the amazement is unreal. Its as if by magic their bust is back where it used to be. So as a rule of thumb here are a few pointers –

If you are a size 8 you will be a 30 back, size 10 – 32 back 12 – 34 back etc. Measure yourself under your bust and that is your measurement. Most women are in a back too big and a cup too small.

To find the cup size, measure across your bust and for every inch bigger is 1 cup size. Ensure the bridge (the bit between the cups) sits flat on your rib cage and the wire ends under the front of your arm pit. Once you have calculated your bra size the next complication is what brand works for you and what styles. Therefore, visit a reputable store, but do check that they are measuring you correctly.

Many of you neutralise your wardrobes especially in the winter. Why? You may not know how to wear colour well on the body or what other colours to put it with. You may also think that it will draw attention which some women may not feel confident to handle. However, using colour to help us feel good is powerful. Not only do we feel uplifted wearing colour but people looking at us feel uplifted too.

Try wearing a colour with 2 neutrals – e.g. A red jacket, a white top and a blue pair of jeans. The neutrals douse down the colour and also frame it perfectly.

4.     STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK

Many of my new clients are concerned about being looked at by other women, and so they neutralise their clothes by lack of colour and wear similar things to their peer group, be it in a work environment or as a Mum. It goes without saying that wearing heels makes an outfit look so much better. That is why you will never see me in flats! Heels don’t have to be uncomfortable, it is just a matter of practising getting back into wearing them. They work wonders for your leg shape and your posture. You will also feel you have more presence when wearing them as well as feeling sexier every time! So, if you haven’t worn them for a while, try them again and don’t give up!
